Sweetgreen Eatery Impresses With Grand Opening in Del Mar

Long lines for fresh and healthy salads at the grand opening of Sweetgreen Del Mar. Del Mar – On the perfect summer day in Del Mar, a new fast, healthy, fresh, and delicious restaurant celebrated its grand opening: Sweetgreen.

The festivities kicked off mid-morning with the first 100 guests receiving a variety of Sweetgreen merchandise from hats to t-shirts and reusable shopping bags. The morning also featured a build-your-own floral bar by Posies Floral Co, where guests could make beautiful floral arrangements with local flowers and greenery.

Located within the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, just off the 5 freeway, the plaza has ample parking, and Sweetgreen has a beautiful front patio with both chairs and cushioned bench seating. During the grand opening, guests sat under the umbrellas and listened to live music all afternoon from The Heart Band.

Fresh and healthy salad topping options at Sweetgreen Del Mar includnig cucumber, avocado, broccolio, sweet potato, and purple cabbage. Sweetgreen is on a mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food. Founded by three college friends who were looking for a healthier way to eat, they decided to start their own fresh, fast, and healthy chain where quality would never be sacrificed for convenience. All their ingredients are locally sourced and their menu is inspired by what is in season. That means if you visit a Sweetgreen location in Southern California, the menu will differ slightly from their location in Manhattan. They take pride in having a transparent supply network, cooking from scratch, and creating a community of people who believe in the power of real food.

To support the local community, for every meal sold on opening day, Sweetgreen donated one meal to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego food bank to help those facing food insecurity.

In addition to the delicious food served at Sweetgreen, the opening celebration also featured free scoops of the delicious, creamy, and vegan handmade ice cream from Stella Jean’s. If you’ve never tried vegan ice cream before – run here. The flavors were delicious, and the texture was silky smooth. If you didn’t know it was made without milk, we promise you’d never know. To help wash down lunch and dessert, Health-Ade was passing out free samples of their Kombucha probiotic teas.

And last but certainly not least, local artist, Parker Heath, hosted a giveaway of one of his custom blankets from his home and living collection. One of Parker’s abstract paintings is a featured piece on one of the walls in Sweetgreen, too.

I like reporting on controversial topics that make your mind think.  I have covered the areas throughout California such as Lake Tahoe, Orange County, and now I am in San Diego, ready to uncover news most people won't discover on their own.  I love sports, a good drink, and did I mention sports?
