Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee in Del Mar is the self-proclaimed “World’s Freshest Doughnuts.” They make their doughnuts from scratch daily, using the best ingredients possible for the dough and delicious glazes, including simmering pots of fresh fruit purees, crisping up bacon, and crafting from-scratch fillings.  They fry fresh batches of each flavor all day long, every day, ensuring that no matter what time you pop in for a sweet and savory treat, you have a fresh, warm, and oooey gooey experience.

The location is very convenient, and has plenty of parking, in the Del Mar Highlands plaza. There are a few tables with umbrellas outside on the front patio with an abundance of succulent plants. Inside is modern, bright, and inviting with shelving that displays goodies from coffee mugs to hats, Sugarfina x Sidecar gummies, coffee beans, and more for purchase. There’s even a cute nook for the perfect photo op!

We recently stopped into the Del Mar location to try a variety of flavors, including their summer seasonal flavors: passion fruit pavlova and salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough. Spoiler alert: everything was delicious, but we narrowed it down to our top four picks that you donut want to miss!

Sidecar Donuts x Sugarfina gummies Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
This seasonal fan favorite did not disappoint! When you hear “salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough” you except the doughnut to taste like a warm salted malted chocolate chip cookie. And boy did this doughnut deliver! The chocolate chip cake donut has a scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough in the center, the perfect pairing for each bite.

Susie’s Blueberry Pancake
This fresh take on a summer breakfast staple was everything it should be – sweet, a hint of savory, and glazed to perfection. The blueberries are fresh, juicy, and pop in your mouth – no fake blueberry flavor here. There’s a maple syrup glaze which is also topped off with a pure maple syrup.

Maple Bacon
